Prof. Ram S. Jakhu

Prof. Ram Jakhu has over thirty years of experience in space-related fields. He is Associate Professor at the Institute of Air and Space Law, McGill University, Montreal, Canada. From 1995 to 1998, he served the International Space University, Strasbourg, France, as a Professor and the first Director of the Master of Space Studies program.

Prof. Jakhu's research interests include law and policy of space applications, space debris, space safety and space security. He has authored a book and more than 60 articles in several reputed journals and edited books entitled ‘Space Safety Regulations and Standards’, ‘National Regulation of Space Activities,’ and ‘ICAO for Space.’

Dr. Jakhu is the founder and President of Cyber & Space Telecom Inc., a consulting firm specializing in space and telecom law and policy, which has completed over 30 consulting assignments for various entities from around the world.

He is a Member of the Space Security Council of the World Economic Forum. He is a ‘Fellow’ and the Chair of the Legal and Regulatory Committee of the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety. For 14 years he was a Member of the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Space Law (IISL). In 2007, he received a “Distinguished Service Award” from the IISL for a significant contribution to the development of space law. He holds Doctor of Civil Law (Dean's Honors List) and Master of Law (LL.M.) degrees from McGill University, Canada, as well as LL.M., LL.B., and B.A. degrees from Panjab University, India.
